Mechanics of Reddit: Is there any reason to avoid parking your car on a hill (parallel and/or perpendicular) for long periods of time every day?

Street parking closest to my office is extremely steep (in San Francisco). The parking closest to the office is either parallel to the curb and in some sections you're required to park perpendicular to the curb. My question: Assuming my wheels are curbed and the emergency brake is on - is it harmful to the engine to park a car at a steep angle for long periods of time (eg., 8-10 hours a day, 5-6 days a week)? And followup question: If there is an issue, would it make a difference/be preferable to point the engine uphill, engine downhill, driver side uphill or driver side downhill?
