Recommend me a car that is low cost per mile to drive but also big enough for bikes

Hey, I need to replace my daily driver with something very efficient, have been looking at tdi wagons and am stumped past that.

I have a WRX, it has a roof rack for my bicycles, and if gets 18mpg.

Requirements:

1. Has to accept a roof rack
2. Has to be bigger than a starter car (Mazda2, Yaris, etc.)
3. Has to get at least 35mpg
