I just received an email from Ford asking me my opinion on some things...
Where's the check box for "Stop putting words in my mouth"?
Hey again r/cars patriots.
Today we have another article on the press Scion FRS we got a week ago. Here's the original reddit thread and here's part 1.
Part 2, called "Pace Notes," involved getting some people together to drive and get gut reactions to the car to see if we had differing opinions. Here's the article.
Part 3 will be the "Will it Reddit?" post you're waiting for on your suggestions. Stay tuned for that soon.
Cheers

I posted yesterday about my dad's sad old Mazda RX-7 and how it was being terribly mistreated. After seeing the outrage in the comments, he finally decided to do something about it and start restoring it. While I was with him today I took a picture of the newly weed-free RX-7. I also went into his warehouse and took pictures of his many cars that he doesn't drive including his incredible Buick Grand National that only has one mile.

new weekend warrior! the original owner was a old lady who just got hip surgery, so i had to take advantage. 120k miles, unmolested and garage kept its whole life!
Seriously please help me reddit. I'm travelling cross country and pulling a uhaul trailer. I've made it 2000 miles and have 200 left to go, but my car is overheating like crazy. I'm in Yuma AZ and it's 112 degrees so I know that's not helping. When I fill it with coolant we make it maybe 10 miles before it overheats again. Like boiling out of the reserve tank and highly pressurized radiator cap and trying to leak out of that as well. Am I doing something wrong or do I seriously just need to park and let it cool off for like an hour?
I went to the Pikes Peak Hillclimb for the first time in a couple years and snagged some photos! Here are my favorite ones I got. http://imgur.com/a/CWjys
Was looking at these, you can get them for moderately cheap and I think they look awesome. Does anybody have any experience with these? Reliability? 250 vs 350?
Guy at work has one he wants to sell for ~$4,000. I drive 3 miles everyday to work and drive maybe 10 miles on the weekends around the beach. I'm in Southern California so the top would pretty much stay down. My wife has a car in case the Midget breaks down and I need a ride to work.
I have to ask, how dumb is this idea? Can I expect a money pit? Dude I'd be buying it from has daily driven it for almost 2 years but is selling it now cause it terrifies him on the highway.
For me for example, I consider my gti to be quick, while I consider my r6 to be fast. I'm just curious where it is for you guys.
So, I made it to work.... my clutch pedal is basically giving no resistance and have to slam it in to get my car in gear. It's okay when I'm on the highway I can force shift it. Locally I think I'm going to have to shut my car off at each light and put it in gear.
Is this going to be scary? or just embarrassing? I can handle embarrassing.
Hey guys, college student here.
Not sure if this is the right place, but I'd like to say I know very little about a lot of cars, let alone how to purchase them - I just know I really like them. So please try to bare with my ignorance, I'm trying to learn.
If I were to go out and purchase a car tomorrow, where would the best place be to purchase (or lease) something used?
I was doing some research on certain dealerships and I saw that some seem to mark-up their used cars heavily compared to other dealerships.
For instance, out of pure curiosity, as I'm in no position to afford one - I was looking at a used 2012 e63 AMG from the Mercedes dealership, a used '12 e63 from a private dealership, and a used '12 e63 from a private seller (like someone who is not selling from a dealership, not sure what they are called). I noticed the dealerships were more expensive. I assume this is because they are more trusted and inspected before taking them in for resale, however this still made me curious.
So yeah, my questions are why would the prices vary, is it possible to bargain with a dealership (and even show them private seller prices), and where is the best/most trusted place to purchase/lease used vehicles?
Every week we'll sticky a fresh thread on this topic for one day, then post the link to the banner at the top of the page. This way it becomes easier for users to find the discussion. Other thread starters on this topic will be removed.
Keep in mind that the best resource when asking about a specific car is targeted forums. Considering an Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Porsche, or Land Rover? Find the specific subreddit or outside forums. Chances are that your questions have been answered many times over. Nobody here is going to have the kind of indepth info you can find there. Everything here is high level stuff compared to what you can find elsewhere if you just use the search function for the internet.
Please note your budget, general location (US, Canada, Australia, Europe, Asia, etc), and your preferred features.
If you haven't checked out our used car buying thread in the sidebar, please do! It contains some general advice on how to find a good car and not get scammed.
Keep in mind there is also /r/whatcarshouldibuy if you want to start your very own thread. /r/askcarsales has a great sidebar FAQ for buying both new and used cars.
http://imgur.com/a/lK4ho Was driving back home and then "Oh look a Suba......WHAAAAAAAA?!". I'm still shocked after seeing an R32 a few months back nearby :)
http://imgur.com/a/KKEiw My dad has collected quite a few interesting cars over the years and rarely drives any of them. This one is by far the most heartbreaking. This somewhat rare beauty has been there since 2010.
The automakers just about every year come out with Concept Cars. Of course most are never put into production. Some are just silly looking. I saw a Buick concept today that was beautiful but, Buick says it isn't planning on producing it for the market.
Why spend all that money making these cars and what happens after the car shows are over with?
I’m Jennarong M., from VanaticalDesign, Bangkok, Thailand. You've seen my work before, such as the Aston Martin DB11 Concept, the PSC Motors SP-200 SIN, the Koenigsegg Legera, and the Jaguar "Envision" XK.
Everyone wants a car that is rear wheel drive, sporty, and fun to drive. But what they need is a car that is practical, fuel economic, and works as a daily driver. What we want to do is to have both in one.
Why can't we have a car like that? A sporty car that costs $20k-25k while at the same time being a 4 seater and is practical. The production costs for a car like that would be pretty high, but we're not selling for profit, the business plan is to eat up the production costs and requesting little profit, for example the car could cost $20,500 to produce, and we sell it for only $21,000.
The car is aimed at the enthusiasts, but we’re planning to appeal to the masses as well. The car would be bought online from our website, where you can choose individual options such as which bumper would you like, or if you want a loud exhaust or a quiet one, and a manual or automatic. The plan is whatever you choose, the price won’t change, it stays the same, so whether you want a fierce, loud car or a subtle, and quiet daily driver you won’t have to pay extra for them.
Heres a sketch of what the car could look like.
And Here’s one with an alternate front end.
(I’m still getting used to my new drawing tablet, so I apologize if it’s a little messy and unprofessional.)
We want to be able to build a car that every enthusiast wants, the holy grail of cars perhaps, and thats why we need your help. I want to ask the community, the car enthusiasts, what you want or need in a car. If it goes according to plan we could have a prototype ready as soon as December.
Best, Jennarong M. of VanaticalDesign, Bangkok, Thailand.
TL;DR Tell us what you want in a car, a car you want, (RWD, Manuals etc) or a car you need. (Practicality, Fuel Economy etc)
EDIT: I'm trying to reply to as much comments as I can! Way too much!
EDIT2: I appreciate the consecutive criticism everyone is willing to give! It's given me the ability to patch holes and improve my business plan and strategy! But I'm sorry that I won't be able to reply until tomorrow morning, as it's after midnight here, and I'm getting a little sleepy!
EDIT3: I see lots of people being skeptical or the ones downright saying its ridiculous and won't happen. Lets see the look on your faces once it pops up later this year shall we?
Long story short: I only can drive cars with very light steering. The highest value on the steering wheel allowed is 2.25 pound-force.
I heard that 70s cars had a very light steering. but how light exactly? You cant find such information on the internet, not even Ford or GM could answer this question.
The only way would be to test it with a force scale on the steering wheel. So maybe there is someone out there who has an american car from the 70s together with a force scale.
I tried several car forums, but I got no answers. So I thought maybe the big community of reddit could help me out.
Life aint easy for a disabled car enthusiast.
Well, after making the decision to buy a 1997 Eclipse GST, I got a little bored and started to look into alternatives. I wanted to sell it to get a down payment on a good car, but then I was approached with an interesting trade. It's a 1985 GMC C1500. Has a 454 crate motor bored out 60, Edelbrock filter and carb, JEGS upper intake, chrome valve covers, long tube headers, dual cherry bomb exhaust, a turbo 400 transmission with a shift kit, and a few perks like tinted electric windows, split window, A/C and heat, and a generally nice interior. The body's straight as well.
Needless to say, I took the trade. Lol definitely happy to be back in a V8.
EDIT: Here are the pictures now that Imgur finally uploaded them.

I have so many questions I'd love to ask him about his collection. Like;
Just how many cars do you actually own?
How hard is it to restore some of you're older, specialty cars like you're steam cars? Or even you're steam motors that were once used in factories.
Which car was the most expensive to restore?
Which automobiles would you consider to be the top 5 in your collection?
What car do you not own that you wish you did?
So I am curious if by putting tools in my trunk which all in all would weigh around 200 lbs affect my suspension permanently if lowering springs were installed such as eibach sportlines. The tools would be in my trunk for 5 days of the week and be removed on weekends. I own a 2014 genesis coupe.
Hey there,
After months of waiting for the Hellcat pricing to get back down to earth, I've given up. I'm sure reasonable pricing is around the corner, but I'm kind of over the Hellcat for now. I currently have a Boss302 and will keep that thing (bone stock) until the day I die! My Ford dealer called me last week and said they'll give me their last 2016 GT350 allocation. They only had one GT350R allocation and that has been taken, along with 3 of their 4 GT350 spots. I have decided to put a deposit down and put my order in. I am looking for some help with optioning it out. I will never visit the track in this car, I will exclusively use it for being irresponsible on the street (kidding). I am very solid on getting the avalanche gray, I am debating black roof and black stripes. If I can get matte black stripes I am thinking I won't do the gloss black roof. Can /r/cars help me decide on the Technology Package and the Track Package. I do care about resale as I will not likely keep this car long, I don't care about the tech stuff too much, though I do hate that small screen in the center stack (but not sure if it's worth $7K). I will never be a good enough driver to push this car, do you think it's still worth getting MagneRide (mandatory track pack at $6500)? The reason I am debating these options are truly because of the expense. The GT350 is $50k, totally reasonable - but I'm having trouble adding more than 10% of price for each option... Thanks in advance, pardon the long post.
Found a private seller selling an 09 Yaris with 5 doors and the exact color I want. Only problem is 110k miles but it's a clean title and no accidents. It'll be $5k cash.
Should I do it? :) Sounds like a good deal due to Toyota reliability but I'm not sure if I should be aware of anything.
