Hey guys, college student here.
Not sure if this is the right place, but I'd like to say I know very little about a lot of cars, let alone how to purchase them - I just know I really like them. So please try to bare with my ignorance, I'm trying to learn.
If I were to go out and purchase a car tomorrow, where would the best place be to purchase (or lease) something used?
I was doing some research on certain dealerships and I saw that some seem to mark-up their used cars heavily compared to other dealerships.
For instance, out of pure curiosity, as I'm in no position to afford one - I was looking at a used 2012 e63 AMG from the Mercedes dealership, a used '12 e63 from a private dealership, and a used '12 e63 from a private seller (like someone who is not selling from a dealership, not sure what they are called). I noticed the dealerships were more expensive. I assume this is because they are more trusted and inspected before taking them in for resale, however this still made me curious.
So yeah, my questions are why would the prices vary, is it possible to bargain with a dealership (and even show them private seller prices), and where is the best/most trusted place to purchase/lease used vehicles?
