Hey guys, car noob here. TIL I've been parking my car wrong; let me explain. My driveway is on a bit of an incline. For as long as I can remember, this is my routine for parking: 1) Shift into park 2) Let car slide back until it comes to a rest 3) Engage e-brake.
Today, when I parked my car after work following the outlined routine, I noticed a clicking/grinding noise when I "2) Let car slide back until it comes to a rest". Obviously, this is not a good sign, and after some google-fu, I found out how an auto transmission works and how it should be parked.
My question is, how fucked is my transmission now? Car is shared between family and we've owned it for 5 or 6 years. However, I've only started driving and parking it like a fool for about 1.5 years.
