Hey /r/cars I need some help. I figured this subreddit would be more active than most forums.
On my drive home the other day my engine light came on and I starting losing power. It's an OBS1 system so I did the paper clip method to get the code as Toyota wanted $110. It came out to error code 12. According to that it means it's the knock sensor.
The issue I am having is it bounces down in RPM's as I sit in drive, neutral, and park with drive being the worst and it almost dying. Video: http://youtu.be/sWoWG-oBZ90
I have the book on this car but I'm not exactly sure on the steps. In the book they have most of it taken apart and don't do the steps but show the photos. Browsing around it seemed like some said it may be the distributor but like I said I'm not much of a car guy. I have tools and the ability to take things apart. I've done some small stuff in the past like the valve cover gasket, spark plugs, some suspension stuff.
What do you guys think. One thing I noticed also was a gurgling sound when I shut off the engine this evening. Wasn't sure if the phone would pick it up but it did a great job. http://youtu.be/03XEchMQe-g the car is not overheating and sits in the middle between overheating and cold.
Anyone know what that is?
I'm not driving the car until I can figure out exactly what's going on. I love it but I'm getting to the point of buying a new (used) car.
