I got a stick shift a few days ago, and by no means consider myself a "car guy" so this might sound really dumb. But I was sitting at a light waiting for it to turn green. Once it did I pushed the clutch in and put the car in what I thought was 1st. I accidentally put the car in 3rd. I didn't realize my mistake and gave the car gas and took my foot off the clutch. My car didn't stall out, it just started slowed and picked up speed as if it were an automatic. My car is a Ford Fusion 2006. Can someone explain what the hell happened? Does this damage the car? Does this let you drive the car somewhat like an automatic?
