Self Driving Cars - What's going to happen when manually operated cars are no longer allowed on the roads?

Self driving cars are very safe and if all cars were self driving we could do things like eliminate traffic lights and stop signs because all the cars would simply coordinate and miss each other. 20 minute commutes would become 13. You'd be dropped off at the door, no parking, just summon your vehicle when you want to leave. This would have tremendous popular appeal and the day when manual driven vehicles are banned from the roads is not too far in the future.

What do you think will happen to people who like to drive cars and motorcycles? Not to mention RVs.

My opinion is that manual driven cars will be allowed in rural areas and certain cities, and the self driving cars in those areas will obey old fashioned traffic signals. With time, driving will become an activity you only do in certain locations, like skiing is today.

As an aside, I'd love to have a self driving RV. Imagine going to sleep and waking up at your destination!
