So I was at a back road today behind Walmart, and The entire road was completely flooded. For a few seconds I felt like I was driving through a river, and even stopped at one point in time to open my door. The water was almost as high as the door of my car. I drive a Toyota Prius. Anyway, in the opposite lane comes some lady in a minivan flooring it, going literally 35-40 miles an hour. People get so excited by water when they are driving a car, but they never stop to actually think about what they are doing. So anyway, the massive waves of water on either side of her car look like mini tidal waves. The wave on the my side of her car hit my car diagonally, and I felt like I was in one of those cheap car washes because I could no longer see out of my windshield for several seconds.
Unfortunately, she was also passing someone on a bike. The wave completely drenched him and knocked him off his bike. The poor guy crashed into the curb after trying to steer away, and his bike sank beneath the puddle. The truck behind the van didn't even see the bike, charging right over it. Of course, there was an absurdly loud grrrrrrrrindddddd as the truck drove over the bike, and I guess that driver wasn't smart enough to put two into together when he saw the guy with a bicycle helmet laying on the grass on the other side of the curb, and instead just kept on driving.
I felt really bad for the guy on the bike honestly, but this certain back road that always gets flooded is just awful, and the drivers that take the back road are even worse. seriously, what are people thinking when they accelerate towards a massive flooded road like that?
